Sewing Machines

Yes, I’m an addict. There. I’ve admitted it.

I love sewing machines. It seems that once you become addicted to them, they show up everywhere and you want to take them all home. I love taking a neglected machine and getting it running again. The mechanics of the older machines is fascinating.

Alas, but my family does NOT share in my addiction, nor are they very good enablers.

I’ve posted photos below.

SINGER SONATA 6606

My first new sewing machine. My husband surprised me with this in 1989 or 1990. Very basic, but very reliable machine. I recently sold it on EBAY.

NEW COMPANION TREADLE

(Early 1900’s)

I picked this up at an “antique” shop for about $25. It was in terrible condition and the cabinet still needs 2 drawers and refinishing. After a good cleaning, lube, and new belt, she stitches wonderfully!

SINGER SPYNX DECALS

An orphan waiting for a treadle base. Needs lots of attention.

Notice the Brother Wizard sewing machine in the background. It’s practically indestructible. It was given to me and after some TLC, it stitches great!

SINGER PHEASANT DECALS

Another orphan waiting for a treadle base. It too needs lots of attention.

PRECISION BUILT REGENT

(Japanese clone??)

Another donation from a friend cleaning out her attic. It was frozen up, dirty, with nice little bug nests inside!!!

Now it sews fine!

SINGER FASHION MATE 237

I picked this up at a flea market for $20.

The case is scuffed, but the machine is perfect. The finish is brilliant, unscratched. I don’t think it was hardly used!  I know this is a basic straight/zigzag machine, but I absolutely love it! It sews very quietly and will sew anything. I found a buttonholer and several feet to go with it.

SINGER 403A

An EBAY find, and a good one at that!  Excellent machine...solid, heavy duty. Will sew anything.

I bought a buttonholer, cams, and several feet to go with it.

This is my main sewing machine.

SINGER 99K (Two machines)

The first 99K I bought came from EBAY. I think I paid about $40 for it.

I picked the second one up at a flea market for $5!! It’s the one that’s pictured.

These  beautiful little machines sew a great straight stitch! They are very portable. I’m currently making a quilt on one of these.

SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT II

(Space-age style)

I bought this little machine from MrVacandMrsSew online. They are great dealers!

This is a good machine for travel. It will do basically anything you need a machine to do. I’ve taken it everywhere!

WHITE 3300 EMBROIDERY MACHINE

Does beautiful embroidery. Although it only has the 4x4 field, it’s a great backup machine. I often have it and the Brother 8500 embroidering at the same time. It’s compatible with the Brother cards.

BROTHER PC8500

What can I say? It embroiders. It sews. It washes windows. (Well, not really, but it should!)

This machine is worth every penny. I love it!

WHITE SPEEDYLOCK 1600

A good little serger. Makes nice overlock stitches and rolled hems. I messed it up by feeding too many layers of corduroy through it. After it was repaired, it serged fine, but won’t stitch off the stitch finger.  Can’t figure that one out.

HUSQVARNA VIKING 936 SERGER

Wow! The latest addition to my family. I’m just getting acquainted with this machine and am amazed at what it will do!  I highly recommend this machine.

I also have a couple of Singer 128’s. One of them has the Godzilla finish. The machine and case are in excellent cosmetic condition but it needs a new motor. The second one may be better used as a boat anchor.
